Our Story

Aloha — and mahalo for finding your way here.

Our family's roots on Oahu run deep — since the 1940s, this island has been home, sanctuary, and soul. We grew up making the journey back as often as we could, drawn by the pull of the ocean, the warmth of the land, and the family still rooted in Laie and Waimanalo who kept the connection alive across generations.

This cottage is the answer to a question we kept asking ourselves — how do we get back closer to where the heart is?

The old beach cottage had good bones and a story worth honoring. We rolled up our sleeves and brought it back to life — not to flip it or brand it, but to create a place where we could be near family again, steps from the same ocean our kupuna knew. Single-wall construction, trade winds through the windows, birds on the point at dawn. Some things you don't change.

When we're not here, we want guests who feel what we feel — that rare stillness of waking up on the North Shore, where the pace slows, the reef glitters, and life gets a little more honest.

This isn't a resort. It's a home with aloha baked into every board.

Come stay. Rest long. Leave changed.

Eco Adventure
Explore the North Shore

Laie sits at the heart of one of Oahu's most ecologically rich coastlines. This is a base camp for sustainable adventure — hiking ancient ridgelines, paddling protected bays, and snorkeling reefs that have thrived for centuries.

🥾
Hiking
World-class trails right out the door — Laie Falls Trail, Hauula Loop, Sacred Falls area, and the sweeping Ka Iwi coastline. Lush, green, and gloriously uncrowded.
🛶
Kayaking
Paddle the calm windward waters from Laie Point or venture up the coast. The protected bays along the North Shore offer some of the best flat-water kayaking on the island.
🤿
Snorkeling
Crystal-clear reef waters just steps from the cottage. Goat Island (Mokuauia) — a protected seabird sanctuary — is a short wade or paddle. A short drive brings you to Shark's Cove, one of Hawaii's top snorkeling and tide pool spots, and Three Tables, a shallow reef bursting with reef fish, sea turtles, and coral just offshore.
🏊
Swimming
Laie Beach is calm and family-friendly, sheltered by the reef. Unlike the famous surf beaches, the water here is gentle and clear — perfect for daily ocean swims.
🌱
Eco & Cultural
Visit the Polynesian Cultural Center, explore taro lo'i fields, or join a guided eco tour of the Ko'olau mountains. Sustainable travel feels natural here — it's how this community lives.
🐢
Wildlife
Hawaiian green sea turtles (honu) rest on nearby beaches. Spinner dolphins play offshore at dawn. Goat Island is home to nesting seabirds. Nature shows up here uninvited and often.
🪨
Cliff Jumping — Waimea Bay
About 20 minutes down the coast, Waimea Bay's famous rock is one of the most iconic cliff jumps in Hawaii — a 25-foot leap into deep, clear water with the whole beach watching. A true North Shore rite of passage.
